My client is an Embassy looking for a fresh graduate to come on board as a consular officer an ideal candidate should come with strong communication skills, detail oriented, good people skills, strong organisational skills and a initiative taker.

The Consular Officer is responsible for delivering consular services to citizens and foreign nationals in accordance with the mission's policies and regulations.This role involves managing visa and immigration-related matters, providing support to nationals in distress, and handling other consular services. The Consular Officer will contribute to the overall safety and well-being of citizens abroad and ensure compliance with international, national, and embassy laws and regulations.

  • Visa Services:

    • Review and process visa applications, ensuring all required documentation is submitted and compliant with regulations.
    • Conduct visa interviews and assessments to evaluate applicant's eligibility for visa issuance, considering both the applicant's situation and relevant laws.
    • Issue visas based on consular policies and guidelines.
    • Provide advice and assistance to visa applicants on requirements, processing times, and procedures.
  • Citizen Services:

    • Assist citizens in distress, providing emergency services, including passport renewals, notarial services, and assistance with legal or medical emergencies.
    • Support nationals in cases of arrest, hospitalisation, death, or missing persons.
    • Guide citizens through repatriation or evacuation in crisis situations.
  • Public Outreach:

    • Communicate effectively with the public to address inquiries related to consular services.
    • Deliver presentations and briefings regarding visa processes and consular support services.
  • Policy and Regulatory Compliance:

    • Ensure consular services are provided in accordance with national laws, embassy policies, and international agreements.
    • Investigate and resolve any fraudulent activities related to visa applications or consular services.
  • Case Management:

    • Maintain accurate records of all consular cases and applications.
    • Monitor case statuses and provide timely follow-up to applicants or distressed citizens.
    • Work closely with local authorities and international organisations to manage consular issues.
  • Crisis Management:

    • Act as a liaison between the consular office and local authorities during crises, ensuring prompt and appropriate responses to emergencies affecting citizens.
    • Assist in crisis situations such as natural disasters, civil unrest, or health emergencies, ensuring the welfare of citizens.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with other consular office sections to ensure the smooth operation of consular functions.
    • Provide backup and assistance to other officers when needed.

2. Relevant experience in volunteering work or internships is preferred.
